UNDP

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is a global network of the United Nations working in 177 countries and territories, helping to achieve the eradication of poverty and the reduction of inequalities and exclusion. It helps countries to develop policies, leadership skills, partnering abilities, institutional capabilities and build resilience in order to sustain development results.

UNDP is active in Serbia since 1952, and since 2000 it has supported it in the achievement of sustainable development on its way of post-conflict recovery and accession to the European Union.

UNDP objectives for Serbia are outlined in the Country Programme Document (CPD) 2011-2015, adopted in July 2010, and the Country Programme Action Plan (CPAP) 2011-2015, which has been designed together and approved by the Government in December 2010. The Country Programme Action Plan defines three objectives for the period from 2011 to 2015: Sustainable Development and Social Inclusion Enhanced; Good Governance Strengthened; and Enabling Framework for Environmental Management and Energy Efficiency Strengthened.

UNDP implements the project ‘Reducing Barriers to accelerate the Development of Biomass Markets in Serbia’ in cooperation with the Ministry of Mining and Energy and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection, together with numerous partners from public, civil and private sectors.
